Soon, users of Solana will be able to interact with the network via an open-source module enabled on ChatGPT, OpenAI’s artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot.

When OpenAI makes plugins available, the plugin will enable ChatGPT to verify wallet balances, transmit Solana-native tokens, and purchase nonfungible tokens, according to a tweet published by Solana Labs on April 25.

Solana Labs also encourages developers to test using open-source code to retrieve potentially relevant on-chain data.

The screenshot provided by Solana Labs demonstrates that ChatGPT can retrieve a catalog of NFTs owned by a specific Solana address, along with a metadata link to the NFT—presumably derived from Solana Labs’ block explorer.

Solana Labs did not indicate whether the plugin would be released when OpenAI makes the plugin’s functionality accessible to all users.

The new ChatGPT modules function by retrieving data from online sources and communicating with third-party websites in response to user commands. Currently, the feature is being handed out to all consumers.

Nonetheless, not everyone is pleased with the progress.

One Twitter user requested that Solana prioritize the development of a “working block explorer,” while another questioned the contribution to the ecosystem.

It appears that Solana Labs is now placing a greater emphasis on artificial intelligence, as the company announced on April 25 that it will provide $1 million in funding to projects that develop AI tools for Solana.

OpenAI announced on the same day that ChatGPT users can now “turn off” their communication history due to a new privacy feature.

The team released a statement on April 25 announcing the release of a new feature designed to give users greater control over their ChatGPT data. The firm added:

“Conversations that are started when chat history is disabled won’t be used to train and improve our models, and won’t appear in the history sidebar.”

OpenAI stated that the feature is accessible through ChatGPT’s settings, which can be modified at any time.

OpenAI explained that expunged conversations will be retained for 30 days to evaluate them and monitor for abusive content. Once this is accomplished, conversations will be purged permanently.

The AI company also added a new “export” option for users to extract their data and gain a better understanding of the data that ChatGPT stores.

The new privacy feature comes as Italy recently became the first European country to prohibit ChatGPT until it complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)’s user privacy laws.
