Block is still seeking wallet partners after two years

Block wants to form retail, distribution, and payment partnerships to grow Bitcoin’s use cases and payment method relevance.

On March 1, over two years after Jack Dorsey’s technological conglomerate Block (known as Square at the time) announced ambitions to develop a self-custodial Bitcoin wallet.

The business disclosed that further work is required and that Block is actively seeking partners “to make this a reality.”

According to Block, partnerships are essential to transfer assets between fiat and Bitcoin financial systems and to offer consumers with the information and access they need to purchase, sell, and keep bitcoin in a safe and convenient manner.

The corporation has indicated that it prioritizes quality over number when selecting on/off-ramp partners. In addition to technical, product, and user interface skills.

Block states that prospective partners must also exhibit pricing transparency, breadth in local payment method coverage, and proficiency in onboarding and withdrawal procedures to meet its criteria.

In addition to on/off-ramp partners, Block plans to develop additional sorts of partnerships, such as retail and distribution partners and payment partnerships, in an effort to expand Bitcoin’s use cases and payment method significance:

“We are already starting to put this criteria to work as we explore and build with potential partners today. Our goal is to have a few early partners integrated with us later this year as we bring our product to market and we expect those partnerships to grow in the months and years after that.”

In recent years, American internet entrepreneur and billionaire Jack Dorsey has been an ardent proponent of blockchain technology.

On December 1, 2021 it was reported that Square changed its name to Block after CEO Jack Dorsey said the business will move its attention to cryptocurrency.

Dorsey published a whitepaper on a decentralized Bitcoin exchange on November 19, 2021. Unfortunately, there seems to be a dearth of action after the original announcement.
