BRICS: 59 Nations Want to Join BRICS in 2024

More Countries Show Interest in Joining BRICS

The BRICS summit is slated to take place in Russia’s Kazan region in October 2024. The United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Iran, and Ethiopia, all newly entered countries, will attend the 16th summit. The nine-member alliance will define the bloc’s future direction at the next summit and pledge deeper collaboration.

BRICS intends to eliminate links with the US currency and use local currencies for all cross-border transactions among member countries. The move invites additional developing countries to join BRICS in 2024.

The appeal stems from the fact that it is the only alliance attacking the US dollar while prioritizing local currencies. As a result, several emerging countries in Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe, and Latin America have shown interest in joining the group in 2024.

At a recent news briefing, Anton Kobyakov, Russia’s presidential advisor, announced that 59 countries were interested in joining the group in 2024. He also stated that, in addition to the group, numerous additional nations have filed to join the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) in 2024.

Putin’s advisor emphasized that the BRICS and the SCO will be formidable powers by 2024. “We can safely say that the SCO is destined to become a new center of economic power in a changing world,” Kobyakov stressed. “Now most of the Earth’s inhabitants are with us,” he said.
