Cardano Founder Defends Project’s Governance in Livestream

In a recent livestream, the founder of Cardano, Charles Hoskinson, vehemently refuted claims that Cardano is a “permanent dictatorship” or a tyranny.

He stated, “All claims of a ‘permanent dictatorship’ in Cardano are not only unfounded but run counter to the very principles upon which we’ve built this ecosystem.”

The founder of Cardano emphasized the decentralized nature of the project’s governance and reaffirmed the prominent role of the community in determining Cardano’s future.

Attracting attention to the project’s development, he explained that the present governance structure from the Shelley era had become obsolete, implying that governance updates were imminent.

He emphasized the community’s role in this evolution by asserting, “As a community, the choice is yours.”

“The purpose of 1694 is that you can now express these types of opinions explicitly and on-chain,” he explained.

Hoskinson highlighted the project’s track record by highlighting its nearly 200 peer-reviewed papers devoid of marketing hyperbole.

IOG’s (Input Output Global, Cardano’s research arm) entire control via BFT (Byzantine Fault-Tolerance) keys has recently been questioned by some social media users.

Cardano was also criticized for unfulfilled promises, including initiatives in Ethiopia and an ERC-20 converter.

As a response, Hoskinson criticized them for propagating false information. Despite many obstacles, he emphasized that the Ethiopia initiative is still ongoing.

Hoskinson addressed allegations regarding IOG’s use of five BFT keys for signing, indirectly verifying the move but disputing the broader intent behind such claims.
