Exclusive Dunk Genesis Sneaker Event by RTFKT x Nike

RTFKT, which Nike acquired in late 2021, rose to prominence for its innovative digital footwear designs. Now, they’ve announced a one-of-a-kind “forging event” for the Dunk Genesis, which will take place between October 18 and October 30.

During this limited window, NFT holders can purchase up to five pairs of actual Dunk Genesis footwear in three distinct colorways.

The allocation consists of one pair of Dunk Genesis “OG” and two pairs of Dunk Genesis “Void” and “Clone X.”

Notably, upon exchanging their NFTs for the tangible sneakers, the tokens will remain in the owner’s wallet, adding a layer of value and exclusivity to the offering.

These sneakers will be meticulously constructed to order, with shipping expected to commence in June 2024.

The designs of the three footwear are a closely guarded secret, but RTFKT teased a prototype on Instagram in August.

The Dunk Genesis retains the iconic Dunk Low silhouette while adding a bold, tech-inspired sole unit and other intricate details to accentuate its futuristic appeal.

While the opportunity to mint the Dunk Genesis NFTs has passed, there is still a means for fans to acquire the physical sneakers.

They can acquire the required tokens via the OpenSea marketplace. Currently, the cheapest available token costs 0.125 ETH, roughly equivalent to $206.

Alternatively, purchasers may choose an RTFKT MNLTH, which can be opened to obtain the coveted Dunk Genesis NFT.

However, this route is more expensive, with the cheapest listing presently being 0.3 ETH, or approximately $494.

Each pair of the RTFKT x Nike Dunk Genesis will be sold for the equivalent of $222 in Ethereum, with additional “gas fees” applicable.

After the forging event concludes, it will no longer be possible to obtain these exclusive sneakers, making them a genuine collector’s item.

This innovative partnership between Nike and RTFKT further blurs the line between the digital and physical domains of fashion, paving the way for an exciting future at the intersection of sneaker culture and NFTs.
