FIFA Launches AI Open Beta Version Of World Cup League

FIFA has released the open beta version of World Cup AI League, a 4v4 football strategy game that uses AI for its characters, cosmetics, and gameplay elements.

According to a statement, the Web3 AI company Altered State Machine created the mobile game, which is currently accessible on Android and will be available on iOS “soon.” The open beta is an expanded version of the game’s World Cup prediction game, which was released in November.

Famous Football Stars Missing

Famous football players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, who both have marketing and sponsorship deals with companies in the crypto industry, are not in the FIFA World Cup AI League.

Instead, the characters in AI League are cartoonish, brightly colored creatures reminiscent of a Pixar film or the popular video game Fall Guys. AI controls the characters’ movements in FIFA, which determines their strengths and weaknesses.

Players serve as team coaches and owners, much like in fantasy football or other sports management games. The game includes maps based on international locations such as Paris, Rio de Janeiro, Yaoundé, and Seoul.

Plan to Launch an NFT Marketplace

“With FIFA’s AI League, we are unlocking a unique new opportunity for football fans worldwide to interact with their favorite sport,” said Altered State Machine co-founder Aaron McDonald.

While AI League is a free-to-play game, the company plans to launch an NFT marketplace soon. When that is released, the characters from the game will be minted into NFTs, and NFTs will represent all characters in the future.

AI League has an in-game currency that users can use to buy cosmetic upgrades for their players. However, this currency is not a cryptocurrency because Apple and Google don’t allow cryptocurrency trading.
