Global Traffic to OpenAI’s ChatGPT Declines

From May to June, global traffic to the famous artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot ChatGPT decreased, indicating a decline in interest in the OpenAI-developed AI assistant tool.

Similarweb estimates that desktop and mobile web traffic for ChatGPT decreased by 9.7 percent in June.

Additionally, the number of unique visitors to the website and the amount of time users spend on the website have decreased by 5.7% and 8.5%, respectively.

In the United States, the website’s traffic decreased by 10.3% month-over-month.

Despite the decline in traffic, the website is still more popular than Google’s Bard, Microsoft’s Bing, and Character AI, a well-known AI-powered chatbot.

As the data was released, some speculated that the decline could result from students on summer break using the tools as well as the novelty of the AI chatbot wearing off.

A member of the community, on the other hand, disputed the reasons for the decline because they did not account for the traffic generated by the recently released iOS application for the AI chatbot.

According to the Twitter user, there may be a simple “change in how ChatGPT is accessed.”

On May 18, OpenAI launched the iOS mobile application for ChatGPT.

The company initially released the application in the United States and pledged to expand the rollout to other nations in the coming weeks.

Lighting Labs, the company behind the Bitcoin Lightning Network, has announced tools for artificial intelligence to send and receive Bitcoin regarding its layer-2 solution.

The company released the toolkit to facilitate faster, cheaper, and simpler payments for AI-focused project developers.
