Michael Benko said that after first expressing his worries about the Axie Infinity SLP wallet, was relieved to finally get a formal response on the cryptic whale wallet.
After considerable supposition, it has been discovered that the wallet containing more than 22 billion of the in-game coin Smooth Love Potion (SLP) that is available in Axie Infinity is really an address that belongs to Binance.
Michael Benko, an Axie Infinity player, and tech co-founder, initially brought attention to the wallet when he expressed worries about it holding more than 50% of the whole circulating quantity of SLP, which would have an influence on the environment of the game.
The address is a “Binance Ronin gateway contract,” Axie Infinity co-founder Jeff Zirlin verified on Twitter in response to a previous story on the subject.
Aleksander Larson, co-founder, and COO of Sky Mavis had previously only said that the wallet was not the property of either Sky Mavis or Axie Infinity.
In the end, Zirlin was the one to put an end to the situation, saying, “Let’s go on – thank you gentlemen for helping to clear up the facts around this. The Binance Ronin gateway contract is present.
Speaking on the situation, Benko stated he was eventually satisfied with the outcome since he received the information he needed and had a direct channel of communication with Zirlin:
“There were some pretty aggressive key opinion leaders […] who went after me on Twitter today, but I’m really proud of my initial story […]. I also think having Sky Mavis officially comment to explain to the community what this wallet is, is valuable. Now they have.”
Prior to alerting the public about the wallet, Benko highlighted in a Twitter thread that he had unsuccessfully sought an explanation from Sky Mavis and others.
Users may transfer assets from the game to the exchange and vice versa thanks to Binance‘s many bridges to the Axie Infinity ecosystem.
The company has a long-standing relationship with Axie and has aided the project in the past by offering a bridge for players to withdraw money from the game when the Ronin Bridge was destroyed as a result of the $600 million hack in March.
