Norman Rockwell NFT Series: ‘Studio Sessions’ Unveiled

The Norman Rockwell Museum and the Norman Rockwell Family jointly announced on Wednesday the launch of an NFT-supported, multi-part series that will provide collectors with the opportunity to acquire multiple digital and physical works by the late artist, including several never-before-published images and process works from the Norman Rockwell archives.

This series, titled “Studio Sessions: The Norman Rockwell Collection,” represents the Rockwell estate’s initial foray into NFTs.

It was created in collaboration with Iconic, a digital platform that helps traditional art institutions experiment with new technologies.

Iconic collaborated with the Jackson Pollock Studio earlier this year to launch a similar collection of NFTs on the Ethereum network.

“Studio Sessions” will be released on Iconic’s website on November 1. Until then, the works comprising the collection will remain a secret.

The NFTs will be available for purchase via credit card or Ethereum; however, the prices for individual tokens have not yet been disclosed.

The sale proceeds will support the Norman Rockwell Museum’s core missions of ensuring public access to Rockwell’s works, fostering a new generation of illustrators, and the Norman Rockwell Family’s administration of the artist’s work and legacy.

Rockwell, who died in 1978, was an American painter whose depictions of everyday scenes in twentieth-century American life and culture garnered widespread and critical acclaim.

“Studio Sessions” will feature glimpses of the tens of thousands of preliminary sketches, photography sessions, drawings, and color studies that influenced each of Rockwell’s paintings.

Every “Session” in the series will focus on a specific, renowned Rockwell painting, and each NFT from the collection will include a limited-edition, museum-quality print.

Director of the Rockwell Museum Norton Moffatt said, “We see our entry into the world of digital editions as a new way to continue and expand our vital cultural work to preserve, present, and champion Norman Rockwell and illustration art.” This project furthers our dedication to innovative, artistically rich work.
