OpenAI CEO Sam Altman Criticizes Elon Musk's Grok

Sam Altman, creator of ChatGPT, criticized Elon Musk and his newly introduced chatbot Grok.

Sam Altman criticized the chatbot Grok by referring to it as “cringey boomer humor.”

Altman published a screenshot of the most recent version of ChatGPT, which is supported by OpenAI, on November 9. This version now permits the creation of GPTs, which are customized variants of ChatGPT.

Sam Altman Slams Grok, Netizens React

Altman posed a question to ChatGPT in the screenshot he shared, requesting that it function as a chatbot renowned for providing cringe-worthy humor that causes viewers to chuckle awkwardly.

ChatGPT promptly responded to the prompt provided by Sam Altman with the following: “Great, the chatbot is setup!”

The chatbot introduced by xAI, an enterprise founded by Elon Musk, has garnered significant attention due to its distinctive, amusing, and witty responses when prompted.

Sam Altman concluded that Grok was not worth his time and added that the caption GPTs, a new iteration of OpenAI’s ChatGPT, can save substantial effort, suggesting that ChatGPT is superior to Grok.

Internet users could not contain their laughter as they responded to Sam’s tweet with memes and quips.

A subset of Internet users referred to the conflict between ChatGPT and Grok as an AI cold war, while others expressed interest by making witty remarks such as “Sam woke up today and chose violence.”

Microsoft’s OpenAI startup prominently released a new version of ChatGPT, enabling users to generate their own GPTs, mere days after Elon Musk introduced Grok, an AI chatbot backed by the xAI startup.

AI Rivalry

Sam Altman and Elon Musk were once close friends for those unaware of the circumstances surrounding their constant criticism and snide remarks.

Elon Musk, Sam Altman, and Peter Thiel established OpenAI as a nonprofit organization in 2015.

However, competition arose after OpenAI, led by Altman, transitioned its mission from an exclusively nonprofit organization to one that formed a partnership with Microsoft.

Meanwhile, multiple sources indicate that the introduction of Grok last week was not a coincidental event.

It is rumored that Elon Musk had organized the introduction of Grok, an independent chatbot supported by an xAI startup, prior to OpenAI’s inaugural in-person gathering.
