OpenAI Launches ChatGPT on App Store

OpenAI has released the official version of its AI-powered chatbot ChatGPT on Apple’s App Store and hints that an Android version will be released “soon.”

The crypto community has taken a keen interest in ChatGPT and the advancements in artificial intelligence, with some individuals already leveraging the emerging technology to create entirely new tokens.

According to a May 18 announcement, the ChatGPT app synchronizes user chat history with its web version and supports voice input via OpenAI’s Whisper speech recognition model.

OpenAI says it is releasing the app for iPhone and iPad users in the United States and will expand internationally “in the coming weeks.”

During the AI adoption race, a portion of Apple’s 2 billion active devices would gain access to OpenAI’s chatbot app with a global rollout.

AI enthusiasts have been attempting to use ChatGPT’s mobile features for months, with many resorting to several relatively complex workarounds to integrate the chatbot with the iPhone’s Siri virtual assistant.

Microsoft’s Bing app, which provides access to the company’s GPT-4-powered chatbot, has been one of the simplest ways to access OpenAI’s software on a mobile device up until now.

The mobile app version of Google’s newly introduced Bard, which is currently ChatGPT’s largest competitor, has not yet been released.

According to reports, both Apple’s App Store and the Google Play Store have seen a proliferation of apps claiming to provide a service comparable to OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

Some of these apps have proven to be copycats that charge an even higher subscription fee than ChatGPT.

Existing ChatGPT Plus subscribers will receive access to GPT-4’s capabilities as well as early access to new features and faster response times on iOS devices.
