Ron DeSantis Claims FED Digital Dollar Threatens US Financial Freedom

In response to the recent FedNow announcement, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said that a digital dollar from the Federal Reserve would hurt the freedom of the US economy. In particular, the possible 2024 presidential candidate says that the government could use a CBDC in a lousy way to “control” American finances.

At a conference in Pennsylvania, DeSantis discussed the potential use of digital currency that the FED has issued. He also spoke about how this could allow the government to mess with or even stop people’s transactions.

Ron Desantis Warns Against FedNow CBDC

Ron DeSantis, the governor of Florida, says that the Federal Reserve’s digital dollar could threaten the US’s financial freedom. DeSantis and Kennedy are talking about the FedNow CBDC, which is set to come out this summer. A change that both of them have spoken out against.

“They’re going to try to impose an ESG agenda,” DeSantis said, referring to policies about the environment, society, and government. “That would give our financial freedom to a central bank that doesn’t care about us,” the Florida governor added.

DeSantis has already taken steps to ban the use of CBDCs in Florida, which he talks about in these comments. DeSantis proposed a bill that would make using any digital money that the FED made illegal. He also asked other state representatives to do the same.

Robert F. Kennedy Kicks Against FedNow System

In the latest news reported by Coinxposure, the recent backlash against the FedNow system has been joined by another person who might run for president in 2024. Robert F. Kennedy had spoken out against the FED’s potential use of a digital dollar and what that might mean for the American economy.

In a tweet, Kennedy said the new FED announcement made him angry. He says that cash transactions will no longer be anonymous if a CBDC is used everywhere and is watched by the government. He also said, “The central bank will have the power to enforce dollar limits on our transactions, limiting where you can spend money, where you can spend it, and when money expires.”
