In a letter addressed to Judge Kaplan, it was explained that despite the lack of Adderall during trial proceedings, Mr. Bankman-Fried has worked diligently to maintain concentration over the past two weeks.
Nonetheless, as the defense phase approaches and the pivotal determination of Mr. Bankman-Fried’s potential testimony looms, the defense team’s apprehensions are growing, centered on the impact of his restricted access to Adderall, which may have hindered his concentration and prevented him from meaningfully participating in the defense’s case presentation.
The defense has attempted to resolve this concern with the Bureau of Prisons (BOP), but their numerous emails and voicemails have not received a response.
A proposal has been made to administer Mr. Bankman-Fried a 12-hour extended-release 20mg dose of Adderall in the morning before his transportation to the courthouse.
The BOP’s ability to supply the extended-release dosage in time for Monday’s resumption of the trial remains uncertain despite the optimism that this modification will remedy the situation.
Moreover, even if administered, the efficacy of the proposed dose in assisting Mr. Bankman-Fried remains uncertain.
