Shiba Inu developers have blacklisted a user account for bidding on land in a way that formed a swastika (symbol of hate) on the SHIB metaverse.
According to a statement released late Tuesday by Shiba Inu (SHIB) Metaverse developers, a user’s wallet address has been blacklisted for sketching a swastika on the project’s Metaverse land. Shiba Inu’s squad stated:
“SHIB: The Metaverse will place the wallet identifying the [hate symbol] violation on a blacklist, meaning it will never be able to participate in any and all areas of the platform.”
The ordeal began on April 12 with the launch of the Shiba Inu Metaverse property sale, which offered 36,000 plots out of 100,000 available.
Crypto enthusiasts with locked LEASH (the ecosystem token) and Shiboshi nonfungible tokens could bid on Metaverse lands, which were square plots, for 0.2 to 1.0 Ether (ETH) each through Shib.io. As a user placed a bid on a plot of land, the color changed from “grey” to “black” when viewed from the map.
Members of the Shiba Inu Discord community learned on April 15 that a malicious user was bidding on land in a swastika-like pattern.
However, as soon as the news broke, SHIB holders dived into their pockets and began bidding for land surrounding the symbol (shading their color) until it eventually took the shape of a “window.”
Most SHIB fans appear to agree with the developers’ decision to ban the malicious user and build a community that is more carefully curated toward inclusion and positivity. “DMCREDI,” a Twitter user, wrote:
#”No slippery slope…[regarding the ban] this is their house, and they choose the language that is acceptable as we would our own household. Simple.”#
