Succinct Labs Launches $110K zkVM Audit Competition

Succinct Labs has launched the first zero-knowledge virtual machine (zkVM) audit competition, with $110,000 prize offer to the winner.

Succinct Labs, a zero-knowledge proof (ZKP) startup, has announced the first-ever zero-knowledge virtual machine (zkVM) audit competition. They hope to increase the openness and safety of their technology by engaging the community.

The rules of the competition stipulate that anyone who successfully cracks the SP1 testnet will receive $110,000. An invitation-only audit competition will take place from 00:00 UTC on June 3rd to 00:00 UTC on June 24th.

Cantina, the Web3 security solutions marketplace, will provide invitations within one hour of the competition starting. We ask participants to retweet all announcement postings on the social media site X to increase their chances of receiving an invitation.

We are auditing only the SP1 core programs. Two prominent zero-knowledge (ZK) auditors recently completed audits on SP1’s core prover, restrictions, and recursion mechanism. To make sure SP1 isn’t vulnerable or exploitable, this competition serves as a secondary verification method.

On the Cantina Discord server, you may find a code tutorial for SP1 that will help participants comprehend each program.

For the purpose of verifying the execution of Rust programs or any programs generated with LLVM, SP1 stands for a high-performance, completely open-source, and contributor-friendly zkVM.

All development is public and open-source, licensed under MIT and Apache 2.0, without any code obfuscation. The modular design of SP1 allows for customization from the beginning, in contrast to older zkVMs that have closed-source, immutable constraint logic.

Thanks to its customizable nature, people may significantly improve zkVM’s performance by adding “precompiles” to its basic logic.

Succinct Labs: What Is It?

As a means to ease the development of cryptographically verified blockchain apps and infrastructure, Succinct Labs is building a decentralized prover network.

It provides a unified proof supply chain, a highly accessible proof generation infrastructure, and cheap pricing for applications that use ZKPs, such as rollups and coprocessors.

The firm just secured seed and Series A funding totaling $55 million. Notable investors, including Robot Ventures, Bankless Ventures, Geometry, and Paradigm Capital, were among those that participated.
