Telegram New Initiative for Channel Owners

Telegram, a messaging service, will allow users to purchase ads using Toncoin (TON), with a revenue share program to reward channel owners.

Users can purchase in-platform ads to promote bots and channels with budgets starting at “a handful of Toncoins,” according to yesterday’s announcement.

”Today, we’re introducing one of the most generous reward systems in the history of social media.” According to a recent update on the social media network, ”Channel owners can now receive 50% of the revenue from ads displayed in their channels.”

Toncoin payments for in-platform advertisements follow the debut of the social media platform ad revenue-sharing scheme earlier this year, which distributes earnings to channel owners in cryptocurrency.

According to a Sunday announcement, withdrawals for channel owners will be possible “in the coming weeks” via the social media Fragment exchange.

“Channel owners can withdraw their rewards with no fees—or reinvest them into ads, collectible usernames, or premium giveaways,” the company said in a blog post.

What is Toncoin?

TON initially stood for Telegram Open Network, with the programmers developing the TON blockchain infrastructure and the Gram cryptocurrency built on top of it.

However, the business abandoned its ambitions for the network after a protracted disagreement with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), which claimed that Grams’ $1.7 billion ICO was an unlawful securitization offering.
