Xai, a layer-3 scaling network explicitly designed for the gaming industry and constructed upon Arbitrum, a layer-2 scaler for Ethereum, had intended to distribute XAI tokens as a holiday gift to eligible community members today.
Nonetheless, the wait duration until the token descends will be marginally extended.
The official Twitter account for the project announced on Tuesday that the airdrop would be postponed until next week because of a team member’s health concerns.
“Why do we have to delay?” Unfortunately, a critical member of the team has been confronted with substantial health issues,” the group wrote. “Your patience and understanding are greatly appreciated.”
As Xai stated, an on-chain snapshot of Sentry node operators who support the network has not yet been taken; individuals still have the opportunity to purchase Sentry Keys to qualify for the initial phase of the airdrop.
Owners of Xai’s Odyssey Legendaries and Vanguards NFTs are also eligible to receive the initial airdrop; however, those images have already been captured. Those who purchase now will presumably be ineligible for the airdrop next week.
Airdrops are frequently used by crypto protocols and applications to reward early adopters and contributors with a portion of the token supply; doing so also contributes to decentralizing the governance process for such initiatives.
In recent times, the burgeoning cryptocurrency market has witnessed an upsurge in airdrops, including recent token drops on Solana from Jito and Pyth Network, among others.
Airdrops of gaming tokens from the multi-chain token Portal and the gaming-centric network Saga Protocol are also forthcoming.
