XRPL Bridge: Coreum’s Gateway to Interoperability

The developers of Coreum, Sologenic, declared their intention to enhance XRPL bridge’s capabilities in December 2023.

The XRP Ledger (XRPL) bridge, which Coreum has introduced, facilitates the transfer of XRP from XRPL to Coreum, the Cosmos ecosystem, and other EVM-compatible chains that Coreum supports.

In a recent post on X, Reza BASHASH, co-founder of Coreum and Sologenic, initially drew attention to this functionality. Bashash disclosed a screenshot of the XRP dashboard on Coreum Explorer, which indicated that the Coreum network is currently populated with 1.2 XRP tokens.

In memory, the initial deployment of the bridge connecting XRPL and the network occurred during the fourth quarter of 2022.

However, due to its restricted functionality, this bridge could only facilitate the transmission of the network’s tokens between the XRP Ledger and the Coreum blockchain.

Expanding Horizons: Enhancements to the XRPL Bridge

As of December of last year, it was documented that over 37 million COREUM had been transferred between network participants via this XRPL bridge.

The developers of Coreum, Sologenic, declared their intention to enhance the bridge’s capabilities in December 2023.

This expansion would involve the incorporation of sophisticated interoperability functionalities and facilitate the smooth transfer of numerous assets.

The XRPL bridge, according to Bob RAS, co-founder of Coreum, will enable communication with EVM-compatible networks such as Polkadot, Avalanche, Ethereum, and BNB Smart Chain.

The implementation of this interoperability will be facilitated by the Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) protocol.
