Aragon, an open-source platform for launching decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs), has announced that its infrastructure is now accessible on the Polygon network.
The collaboration between Aragon and Polygon Labs will provide users with a cost-effective and user-friendly DAO creation and management solution. The partnership will enable users to construct DAOs swiftly, securely, and for as little as fifty cents, without the need for coding.
A DAO is an organization whose operations are governed by computer programs inscribed on a blockchain. DAOs operate without a central authority or hierarchy, relying instead on a distributed network of constituents to make decisions and govern the organization.
By leveraging Aragon’s “lean codebase” and Polygon’s Layer-2 blockchain, users will be able to swiftly establish DAOs without requiring technical expertise. Using completely on-chain technology, this new method intends to reduce the barriers and costs associated with establishing and managing DAOs, thereby allowing people from all over the world to participate at an affordable cost.
The co-founder of Polygon Labs, Sandeep Narwal, stated that the partnership would make on-chain governance “accessible to everyone in the world,” thereby positively contributing to the “widespread adoption of blockchain technology.”
Aragon and Polygon were both founded in 2016, and they have a history of collaborating. The introduction of Aragon’s first products on Polygon’s platform in September 2021 resulted in the formation of over 6,000 DAOs.
Polygon published its open-source zkEVM Ethereum scaling technology to the mainnet on March 27. zkEVM is an Ethereum Virtual Machine-compatible scaling solution for zero-knowledge rollups (ZK-rollups). The technology enables the batching of thousands of transactions off-chain, thereby reducing transaction costs and increasing the throughput of smart contract deployments.
The technology is expected to reduce gas fees for consumers of decentralized applications and allow developers to easily transfer existing smart contracts to Polygon’s zkEVM.
