Matt Hamilton Shares Incredible Story About Vitalik Buterin,Ripple

Matt Hamilton Discusses an Unbelievable Story

Matt Hamilton, who used to be the head of developer relations at Ripple, recently weighed in on the debate about what decentralized finance (DeFi) projects are really about. Someone in the crypto space said that XRP had nothing to do with freedom and was just a payment network. Matt Hamilton replied to this person.

In answer to a member of the cryptocurrency community, Matt Hamilton said that XRP Ledger was created several years before Ethereum. He also said that the co-founder of Ethereum, Vitalik Buterin, used to sleep on the couch of the CTO of Ripple, David Schwartz when he was trying to get a job with the business.

Decentralization Concerns

Justin Bons, founder and CIO of Cyber Capital, said that Bitcoin (BTC), XRP, BNB, and XLM are not real DeFi projects. This started a discussion about what decentralized finance is. On the other hand, Bons said that Ethereum, Cardano, and Polkadot are real examples of DeFi projects.

But XRP fan Panos Mekras disagreed with Bons’s claim. He noted that XRPL, the blockchain that runs XRP, was the first to use DeFi. Mekras said it was the first blockchain to allow a decentralized market, tokenizing assets, stablecoins, and innovative contract features. He also noted that XRPL is not controlled and doesn’t need permission to be used.

Vitalik Buterin’s job started on Schwartz’s couch, so Schwartz himself has been a part of the conversation. He talked about how the agreement that XRP Ledger is based on makes the network decentralized, even better than Bitcoin’s proof-of-work blockchain.
