Scroll’s zkEVM Mainnet Gains Momentum

Layer 2 Ethereum network according to on-chain data, Scroll appears to have launched its zkEVM on the mainnet, with funds already being bridged to the platform.

According to a Dune Analytics dashboard, more than 330 ETH ($515,000) has been bridged, comprising more than 850 transactions and nearly 500 unique users. Etherscan, a blockchain explorer, indicates that deployment of the bridge began on October 8.

The Scroll team has made no explicit announcement as of yet.

Nevertheless, users can add the mainnet to web3 wallets such as MetaMask and transfer funds from other Ethereum-based networks to the zkEVM using third-party interfaces such as Owlto Finance.

Reportedly, the minimal bridge amount is 0.0035 ETH (approximately $5).

Some dapps have also begun integrating with the Scroll mainnet, including ScrollSwap—the first decentralized exchange on Scroll—and the omnichain solution Merkly, allowing users to explore the new network in greater depth.

DefiLlama is already tracking ScrollSwap and three other DEXs on the Scroll zkEVM and has reported a cumulative value of more than $150,000 locked on Scroll applications.

There is also no confirmation regarding whether or when a Scroll token will be distributed.

The Scroll zkEVM mainnet is the culmination of the network’s testing phase, which included its launch on the Ethereum Goerli testnet in February. Previously, Scroll was available for testing via the project’s Ethereum clone.

Scroll has spent the past two years expanding its network, with sixty team members working alongside a more extensive network of external contributors.

zkEVMs are Layer 2 networks constructed with zero-knowledge proofs on Ethereum for scalability. Being Ethereum Virtual Machine-compatible, these networks can support Ethereum applications while operating at scale.
