Tesla has released new footage of its Tesla Bots, which now appear capable of walking steadily, picking up objects, and recognizing their surroundings. Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, presented the video at the shareholder meeting.
The video demonstrates significant improvements to the Tesla Bot project. These include improved motor torque control, artificial intelligence (AI) training based on human movement tracking, and object manipulation abilities.
Moreover, humanoid robots can now walk in a straight line without the assistance of Tesla employees.
In one demonstration, a Tesla Bot retrieved objects from one container and placed them in another, demonstrating a possible application of robots performing human-like tasks.
This action demonstrated how human demonstrations can be used to train the AI of a robot.
The humanoid robots were unveiled for the first time during Tesla AI Day in October 2022. Back then, the robot could barely move forward, its inner workings exposed. Another more complete version was also displayed, but it required staff assistance to remain standing.
Various internet users reacted to the new footage, with some praising Tesla’s achievement and others threatening to attack the robot if they encountered it on the street.
The new robot demonstration occurred days after Musk announced his resignation as Twitter’s CEO. Musk announced on May 11 that he would become executive chairman and chief technology officer of Twitter, shifting his focus to product, software, and system operations.
Linda Yaccarino will succeed Elon Musk as CEO. The billionaire announced on May 12 that he is excited to collaborate with Yaccarino to transform the platform into “X, the everything app.”
