Unmasking Crypto Job Scams

On-chain detective ZachXBT has uncovered yet another crypto fraud, this time on MoonCarl’s website for crypto-related job postings, “cryptojob.com.”

The scam takes the guise of a job posting on the company’s website called “Eco Land.”

ZachXBT asserted that the fraudulent organization attempted to convince applicants to download malware disguised as a game.

“@EcoTechLand is a Scam website,” said Leandro Henflen, a user who attempted to register for the position. Henflen described how the website tried to install malware on his computer.

He added that job postings were used to attract users, who were then offered diversions. However, the antivirus software on his computer protected him from the malware that arrived with the game.

ZachXBT clarified that this was not the first time the site had permitted similar schemes to operate.

The crypto detective then redirected his followers to a similar fraud on cryptojob.com, uncovered by an analyst identified as “NFT_Dreww.eth.”

According to NFT_Dreww.eth, cryptojob.com advertised a blockchain developer position for Neon War P2E Games.

“P2E Scams are not new,” the analyst explained. “To defraud you, they use multiple attack vectors. Due to the social engineering nature of this, it was one of the more elaborate cons.

After a user submitted an application for the P2E developer position, the company would promptly contact them and schedule a Discord interview.

However, the candidate must “verify” themselves during the interview.

The applicant must visit a website and download a launcher to obtain an ID as part of the verification procedure.

“After you install these files, a hacker can do multiple things, including take remote control of your computer, steal information and send it to their remote server, and much more,” NFT_Dreww.eth explained.

The founder of cryptojobs.com, Carl Runefelt, alias MoonCarl, has yet to respond to these allegations.

Runefelt, who has over a million Instagram followers and several crypto enterprises, is a prominent figure in the crypto space.
