WalletConnect Launches Web3Inbox

WalletConnect launched the “Web3Inbox” app, offering blockchain followers a notification platform without requiring personal information.

On January 16, WalletConnect, a producer of Web3 software, released a notification app exclusively for blockchain project followers.

The developers of the new “Web3Inbox” app claim that it gives wallet holders the ability to sign up to receive news from projects that they are interested in. Customers are only required to provide a wallet signature to log in to the application, they are not required to provide a phone number or email address.

At the moment, the majority of Web3 initiatives communicate with their supporters through a combination of Web2 applications, such as Discord, Telegram, and X (which was once known as Twitter).

Ten different Web3 projects are already available on Web3Inbox, as stated in the announcement. These projects include PancakeSwap, Chainspot, Space ID, Guild, Snapshot, TrustaLabs, Galxe, Sovereign Nature Initiative, Peanut Protocol, and Robots. A farm.

As stated by Houlgrave, Web3Inbox “enables individuals to connect their Web3 wallet through WalletConnect and receive notifications all in one location, they can opt in and out of receiving various types of notifications from a variety of products and a variety of applications.”

Houlgrave stated that the team has witnessed projects using the app in a variety of ways to communicate with their consumers, including the following:

“The use cases that we’ve seen so far have really been from a whole range of projects, from people like Snapshot saying ‘Hey, it’s time to vote on your DAO’ to NFT marketplaces saying ‘You’ve got an offer on your NFT,’ to a game where somebody says ‘Hey, I want to challenge you to a duel,’ anything where an application wants to engage with an end-user.”

Horvitz stated that users can download the application on a desktop computer or mobile device using a web browser. Users can also add it to their home screen for permanent access.

Integrating with the WalletConnect software development kit, which is utilized by the majority of mobile wallet applications, allows for connecting a wide range of wallets to it.

Particularly granular opt-in and opt-out options. The fact that doing something in a peer-to-peer setting is a little more difficult from a technological standpoint is the reason why it is taking place after that, she explained.

The concept of messaging and notification between different wallets has been gaining traction in the cryptocurrency industry over the past year.

In August 2023, OpenChat, which is based on the Internet Computer Protocol, introduced a “Communities” function that is comparable to Discord and enables wallet holders to log in without entering any personal information.

The subsocial-based protocol Grill.chat introduced a feature that was very similar to this one in June. Users could create chat rooms that integrated seamlessly into the main website of a project.
