Eclipse Founder, Neel Somani, an Ethereum layer-2 blockchain, has resigned following allegations of sexual misconduct.
In the wake of claims of sexual misconduct, Neel Somani, Eclipse Founder, the Ethereum layer-2 blockchain, has resigned from his position as CEO following allegations of sexual misconduct.
Eclipse Founder Steps Down As CEO
Eclipse Labs announced on May 16 that “effective immediately, Vijay Chetty will be named CEO of Eclipse Labs.” Chetty will be taking over for Neel Somani, who is in the process of leaving the company.
In addition, it did not disclose the reason that Somani had gone. According to Eclipse, Chetty, who served as the chief growth officer of the company until today, has previously held senior positions at Uniswap Labs, dYdX Trading and Ripple Labs.
Additionally, Chetty has prior experience working as an investor at BlackRock.On May 9, Somani said that he was “temporarily reducing” his role as a “public face” for the company.
He stated that he has rejected “serious allegations about sexual misconduct” made against him on X. Somani has acknowledged that these allegations are false.
Eclipse Founder stated that he had “never sexually assaulted or harassed any woman” and that he would “work to clear my name and defend myself.
“Eclipse stated at the time that it “takes allegations against our CEO, Neel Somani, seriously and believes in the importance of truth.” in reference to the claims. Venture capital firms Hack VC and Placeholder spearheaded the company’s fifty million dollar Series A investment in March.
On May 16, Hack Venture Capital expressed its “deeply troubled” reaction to the significant allegations that were recently made against Neel Somani, the founder of Eclipse, in a post that was sent to X.
It went on to say that it had taken measures to “correct the situation,” including pushing Neel to retire, and that it was glad to see that this had occurred.
At Hack Venture Capital, we do not accept any sort of sexual harassment or misconduct, and we hold our founders and the companies in our portfolio to the same high standards.
“To clarify everything, the behavior that is being accused of is not appropriate in any way, shape, or form,” the statement continued.
