Fake Rabby Wallet App Scam Hits Apple Store

The counterfeit version of the crypto wallet app Rabby Wallet on the Apple store has lead to financial losses for unsuspecting users.

It has been revealed that a counterfeit version of the cryptocurrency wallet program Rabby Wallet has been wreaking havoc on users of the Apple Store who are unaware of its existence.

On February 16, the team responsible for DeBank’s Rabby Wallet verified that any app currently featured in the store is fake. The official app is currently under evaluation.

A company known as “Solution Development” is responsible for the impostor app now available on the App Market. The app is categorized as “Rabby Wallet & Crypto Solution,” and its version history reveals that it has been available on the market for a minimum of 4 nights.

Nevertheless, it seems that the software is still available, even though a large number of users have reported the fake app to Apple. A concerned user who goes by the name u/manolodf started the thread on Reddit on February 18 to warn other users about the bogus wallet software.

People who lost money due to the malicious program shared the screenshots on the Apple discussion board.”This is insane and should never happen on the Apple Ecosystem,” they wondered. “How does a counterfeit crypto wallet make it onto the app store that steals their money by posing as the real one?” “This is something that should never happen.”

One of the victims reported this morning that the fraudulent app had scammed them for approximately $5,000. I submitted a support case to Apple to determine if I can be reimbursed for the app that has been reported on several occasions in the past.

A further X user expressed dissatisfaction by saying, “I have just lost 10% of my portfolio due to a fake Rabby_io application from the Apple Store. “NFT collector “bthemouth” reported that the bogus Rabby app depleted their wallets after importing their seed phrase.

At the time of this writing, the user disclosed an address that was supposedly associated with the hacker. At the time, the address held just under 14 Ether valued at around $40,000.

Previously, a fake Rabby wallet appeared on the App Store and this is not the initial occurrence. The Rabby team issued notifications indicating the availability of the app for download on the App Store in October and December of 2023.

On February 14, it was revealed that fraudulent Curve Finance software was found and placed in the Apple Software Store. This situation closely resembles the one previously described.

According to a report in November 2023, fraudulent Ledger Live software that compromised Microsoft’s app store was responsible for stealing about 600,000 dollars.
