The cryptocurrency business has shown that it is much more than just trading. The Solana [SOL] network was seen to be growing by putting out a smartphone that focuses on Web3. About ten months ago, Anatoly Yakovenko, co-founder and CEO of Solana, said that an Android phone called Saga would be coming out. On May 8, the phone will finally be available in the US, EU, UK, Canada, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand, and other countries.
Solana SAGA Phone Price, Features
The gear for the $1,000 phone comes from the Bay Area tech company OSOM. It comes in a black box with a USB-C port for charging. A paper card with a seed phrase is also given so that users can write down the recovery phrases for their cryptocurrency wallets.
The Saga phone has a 6.67-inch OLED screen, a fingerprint reader, two rear camera lenses that can be switched out, and 512 GB of storage. The battery in the phone is 4011 mAh. The device has a Snapdragon 8+ Gen mobile platform with an “integrated secure element” called OSOM’s Seed Vault. This makes it faster for the person to do several things.
When it is shipped, the most current version of Android will already be on it. Things that were pre-ordered are now being sent out. Also, setting up the phone is a lot like setting up any other Android phone, which includes making an account and connecting to the internet.
What makes Solana’s Saga unique?
Unlike most Android phones, the Saga can connect to the Web 3.0 network. It has a “Solana dApp Store,” where users can download apps for the Web3 platform. The store, on the other hand, only has a few apps.
It currently includes Phantom, Solflare, Ledger, and Sqauds. This is followed by three DeFi apps: Marinade. Finance, Jupiter, and Mango, as well as three NFT apps: Nokiamon, Minty Fresh, and TIEXO. The phone also has social apps like Dialect, Audius Music, and urFeed. A “workspace” for dApps is built into the device.
The Seed Vault is another part of the system that works with Web3 and cryptography. It is built into the phone. Users can set up a new seed phrase or import one from another coin wallet.
The dApp store gives rewards to people who own Saga. This includes a Saga-originated token that fell from the sky. It’s important to remember that this is a non-fungible token that lets users get rewards from dApps. Since the coin can’t be moved or burned, users should ensure it isn’t tied to a temporary wallet.
As part of the dApp store’s welcome gift, people who own Saga also get 0.01 SOL, or 0.0026 of a dollar, and $20 worth of USDC. Users who want to get the gadget early can do so with a $100 deposit.
Solana said that the goal of Saga was to give people access to crypto sites and services through their phones instead of computers, which is what most people do. So, this launch is seen as a significant change for the business.
