TRM Labs Hires Chirs Janczewski To Lead Global Investigations Team

TRM Labs, a blockchain intelligence solutions provider, recently added Chirs Janczewski, a former IRS-Criminal Investigations (IRS-CI) Special Agent, to its team as Head of Global Investigations.

Throughout his extensive career, Janczewski has led some of the most significant crypto-related criminal investigations.

Janczewski will lead a team of former law enforcement and private sector employees from the US Secret Service, FBI, Europol, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), and Refinitiv.

TRM Labs has seen an increase in demand for its products and services in recent months, owing to the growing adoption of digital assets. The company raised $60 million in its Series B funding round in December 2021. JPMorgan recently invested in the blockchain intelligence firm.

“Chris is one of the world’s most accomplished cryptocurrency investigators; most importantly, he is passionate about our mission and shares our values,” said TRM’s CEO Esteban Castano. “At TRM Labs we are building a first-class team to innovate on our industry-leading product. We’re thrilled to have Chris joining our mission to build a safer crypto-economy for all.”

Crypto Crime

TRM’s Global Investigations Team assists customers, including digital exchanges, in detecting illegal crypto activities. According to TRM, Janczewski’s appointment will aid in the development of an efficient and secure crypto ecosystem.

In the last few years, there has been an increase in fraudulent activities involving cryptocurrencies. Chainalysis, a blockchain data platform, published a research report earlier this year that stated that illegal crypto transactions would reach an all-time high in 2021.
